Due to visa processing times it is, however, STRONGLY recommended that non-EU applicants submit their material at least TWO MONTHS before the above-mentioned deadlines!

Educational Organisation
The course contents over the three semesters are typically independent of each other, so that there is no fixed sequence order. It should be noted, however, that courses are given once per year only.
It is recommended that the Master’s project be carried out during the second semester.
The Master’s thesis is to be started in the third semester.
About 60%-70% of all courses contain lectures combined with exercises or practical lab class exercises.

Course Objectives
The EE/IT Master’s programme intends to prepare graduates for highly qualified engineer’s jobs and, in addition, for positions with project responsibility and technical management functions, especially within internationally active companies.

Costs of Living
600 EUR per month
A student will need about 600 EUR per month to cover living expenses, student housing, health insurance, etc., in Rosenheim. Including tuition and enrolment fees one should calculate approx. 8,200 EUR per year.
The municipal immigrations office in Rosenheim requires international students to prove that they have at least 585 EUR available per month for the desired duration of their stay in Rosenheim. This is a legal regulation for the extension of the initial visa, which is usually only valid for two or three months.
Job Opportunities
There are a limited number of student jobs available within the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences (e.g. as tutors, for lab work or for other support functions).
For good students, usually part time jobs can be found in regional companies or in Munich, which is a 35 minute train ride from Rosenheim.
Basic knowledge of the German language significantly improves chances for student jobs.

All applicants who are not native English speakers have to provide a proficiency test certificate or have to undergo a test at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences. The following official tests/minimum scores are accepted:

- Cambridge ESOL CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English): Grade C

Arrival Support
There is a tutor-based introductory programme for international students. It includes assistance during student accommodation check-in, opening a local bank account, university enrolment procedures, applying for (mandatory) student health insurance, extending your visa etc. at the beginning of each semester.

Internships
None required
For international students without industrial experience it is highly recommended to include an industry internship semester after one or two semesters to gather practical experience. However, this is not an official requirement for fulfilment of the EE/IT Master’s programme but usually a very good opportunity to develop a Master’s thesis topic with an industrial company.
Accommodation
Student rooms for international students are available on a first come first served basis. Room rates are between 193 and 210 EUR per month (for further information about student accommodation in Rosenheim see also www.studentenwerk.mhn.de).
However, room reservations can only be made after admission to the EE/IT Master’s programme. An application form, to be returned via fax, will be sent out together with the letter of admission.
About the University
With about 4,000 students, Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences offers a small college feeling in an environment that provides numerous opportunities for all kinds of outdoor activities. Whether enjoying the sights and sounds of Munich or hiking in the Alps, your leisure time can be an exciting cultural and recreational experience.
The focus at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences is in the area of applied engineering and industry-oriented education. Founded in 1995, the EE/IT department offers modern and superbly equipped laboratories. Eleven full-time professors and seven staff/lab engineers provide a very personal level of attention for about 300 students in the EE/IT department, 60-70 of whom are in the Master’s programme. Typical lab course groups consist of 12-16 students. This very special “Rosenheim flair” is compact, personal and dynamic.
The EE/IT Department maintains active relations with many regional as well as international companies such as BMW, Bosch-Siemens, Heidenhain, Freescale, Infineon, Kathrein, Rohde&Schwarz or ST Microelectronics.
About Town
Rosenheim is located in the southeastern part of the German state of Bavaria. Close to the Alps, it is an area rich in scenic beauty and with an impressive cultural heritage. About half an hour’s drive from Germany’s “high-tech capital” Munich, it is also the centre of a prospering economic region with a population of about 100,000.
